The County Hotel has received a grant of £1,314 from the Care Plus Group Charitable Trust to purchase three anti-vandal locking cabinets for defibrillators in Immingham.
The cabinets, alongside three ready to use defibrillators, are crucial pieces of equipment that help to preserve countless lives in North East Lincolnshire. The defibrillators will be secured in three key locations across the town of Immingham, within high footfall areas.
Stats from the British Heart Foundation show around 21,000 people are living with heart and circulatory diseases in North East Lincolnshire, with 40 deaths each month attributed to such diseases.
Furthermore, the areas closest out-of-hospital cardiac arrest statistics highlight there are around 2,500 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year in the East Midlands, with only 1 in 13 people surviving.
Willie Weir, owner of The County Hotel said: “A huge thank you to the Care Plus Group Charitable Trust for their generous donation, without the anti-vandal cabinets we simply wouldn’t be able to make the three defibrillators we have operational.
“Once the cabinets housing the defibrillators are secured in place, these will give the people of Immingham the reassurances that we have life saving devices across several key locations should they ever need to use one on someone, or have it used on themselves.
“When someone is experiencing a cardiac arrest, a defibrillator needs to be found as quickly as possible. For every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduce.”
Willie concluded: “We installed our first defibrillator in Immingham just over three years ago and since it was installed next to The County Hotel car park on Pelham Road within months it had been used seven times. The more defibrillators and associated cabinets in a locality the greater the chance of being close enough to one to use in a time of need.”

Since its inception, the Care Plus Group Charitable Trust has provided more than £93,000 to over 90 community projects across North East Lincolnshire.
