All Things Good and Nice CIC secure funds to facilitate canoe trips for 24 local residents

Care Plus Group Charitable Trust recently donated £5,000 to All Things Good and Nice CIC to deliver a 12-month project in which 24 local residents will have the opportunity to take part in one on one canoe trips, helping to improve their health and wellbeing.

All Things Good and Nice CIC currently work closely with the local authority to clean the River Freshney, all the way from Haven Gardens, Grimsby and through to the town centre to reduce waste and debris. It doesn’t take a lot of litter or debris to alter the rivers eco system, it reduces the light levels underneath the debris and depletes the dissolved oxygen that many plants and animals need.

To build on the success of this work the group sought funds to purchase a touring canoe, lifejackets, refreshments and to cover costs of delivering the sessions.

All Things Good and Nice CIC will work closely with Care Plus Group’s Employability Services team and mental health services such as NAViGO to ensure the project primarily benefits, and places are offered to individuals that need it most.

Getting back to nature and utilising our blue spaces can offer a myriad of benefits to those taking part, such as introducing them to a new hobby and focus, improving confidence, promoting fitness and improving overall mental health and wellbeing through mindfulness and stress reduction.

Each session will last approximately three to four hours and transport will be provided to and from the sessions.
