West Marsh Development Trust receive funds to deliver parent and toddler sessions

The Care Plus Group Charitable Trust has donated £1,500 to West Marsh Development Trust, to support in the delivery of engaging parent and toddler sessions for families living on the West Marsh.

The programme will be free of charge and consist of weekly sessions for a total of 40 weeks – during term time – and can accommodate up to 20 parents and toddlers. Session will be delivered by local organisation, Climb 4 Ltd.

The sessions will encourage toddlers to engage in collaborative play, develop a value of sharing and instil the importance of schedules and discipline in children. Through their participation it is envisioned the sessions will help children to develop their emotional, physical, intellectual, social & creative skills.

Alan Burley, Community Worker at West Marsh Development Trust, said: “Thank you to the Care Plus Group Charitable Trust for the donation. The funds will go a long way in helping parents on the West Marsh bond with their child in a conducive environment.

“Children will be given an opportunity to explore a variety of specially designed educational toys and play materials, which they might otherwise have not gotten the chance to access at home. Parents will also get to meet a lot of like-minded parents going through the same phase in life as themselves, giving them a chance to discuss their experiences and learnings.

“We believe our parent and toddler programme will help to ensure a smooth transition for children moving up into pre-school, thus taking a lot of emotional stress away from both the children and parents during this time.”

Neil Cartwright, Trustee of Care Plus Group Charitable Trust, said: “As a charity we exist to support individuals or groups with funds or equipment that will benefit the health and wellbeing of community members across North East Lincolnshire. The work at West Marsh Development Trust and their vision matches that of the Trust and we’re delighted to have been able to support them with their parent and toddler sessions.”

To date, The Care Plus Group Charitable Trust has provided more than £93,000 to more than 90 community projects across North East Lincolnshire since its inception in 2016.
